metamorphosis
Metamorphosis

by: Mikylla Santos

Others say it is a phase,

Some say it might be just puberty that everyone needs to face,

They always believe that "Oh boy, oh boy, you'll eventually conquer that part,

And when you remember what you did for sure you'll cringe from the heart,

But when I try to correct their thinking,

They always rebuff it as if I'm a kid still needs learning,

Saying they knew better than me,

Because they've been there while I should have an accompany,

For a kid in their eyes,

No change that won't suit their expectations will suffice,

But what if I turned out to be someone they never wished?

Will they pursue and think I'm bewitched?

They're determined to give me a piece of advice,

For they think I may not be thinking twice,
Like a little pup filled with curiosity,

Digging its own grave just to find out the mystery,

Finding my own self is not a piece of cake,

Knowing that coming out will put my life at stake,

Yet people see this as a mockery,

Me saying absurd things with unfamiliarity,

Believing I am just joking,

But if they see that as time goes on I'm not contemplating,

Will they try to change my views,

Try to persuade me maybe I'll think of what to choose,

They don't believe all this is true,

Wishing maybe it is just a dream and my words will be withdrew,

This thing they don't understand,

And yet say things to me as a command,

Again this is not a phase that will pass by,

Just like kids who use to play toys and when bored with them will say bye,

Who cries, laughs, and do immature things,

My choice and deed is done from a lot of pondering,

I'm a butterfly who has a choice,

Whether I turned out to be different I'll rejoice,

For I know what I am is my true identity,

Again this is not a joke I said mistakenly,

This "phase" of me they call is permanent,

So please respect me and give me a normal treatment,

I'm not what they call crazy,

Because I'm blooming like a daisy,

How I wish one day you'll give me support,

If I come out your love won't be short,

Accept me for who I am,

That is all I can say to you sirs and madams.
